Counseling for Chronic Pain

Are you struggling with chronic pain? Feel like you can't seem to move forward? Is the pain you experience causing you to feel angry, hopeless, or anxious?

Having chronic pain can be stressful and can impact every aspect of your life - your career, your finances, how you feel about yourself, even your relationships. The struggle with experiencing pain is the vicious cycle between stress and pain. As your perception of pain increases so does your stress level and as your stress level increases so does your pain. The question is how do you end this cycle?

I can help. I know that your experience of pain is real. My training in pain management makes me particularly sensitive to the needs of individuals who experience pain each and every day. I understand how difficult it can be to move forward and how easy it can be to feel hopeless. I will work with you to help you interrupt the vicious cycle of pain and stress; assist you in your ability to cope with your pain, reduce your experience of depression and anxiety, and improve your relationships.

I use a variety of treatment modalities that are commonly used to treat chronic pain, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relaxation training, and mindfulness. Upon meeting, my goal will be to get to know you and to understand how you experience pain and how pain has impacted your life. I will then work with you to design a treatment plan unique to you that will allow you the opportunity to process any anxiety, depression, or anger you may be experiencing, as well as, build new skills for coping with chronic pain that will allow you to increase your overall well-being. If you are interested in scheduling a 15 minute consultation with me, please call 503-504-5067 or fill out the appointment request below.
